Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of showing up at the polls to affirm the mandate of unopposed APC candidates in both the chairmanship and councillorship races.
“We are here to vote for the Chairman of Lekki LCDA and the Councillor representing Ward B1,” said Rep. Raji after casting his ballot.
“The councillor was the sole aspirant during the primaries, and no other political party fielded a candidate. This is essentially a ratification process, but civic duty must be upheld regardless.”
Across the wards in Epe Federal Constituency, the voting process was reported to be peaceful and well-coordinated. Electoral officers arrived early, and the exercise commenced without delays.
“It’s been calm, seamless, and celebratory,” Rep. Raji added.
Reflecting on the broader political context, particularly as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections, Rep. Raji acknowledged that voter turnout could have been stronger.
“I anticipated a larger turnout. However, in the absence of competition, people often become relaxed. We continue to urge our people not to take things for granted. Active civic participation is essential.”
He further remarked on the unique political atmosphere in Lekki LCDA.
“Across the five wards in Lekki, APC candidates are returning unchallenged. That reflects the overwhelming confidence our people have in the party’s leadership.”
Rep. Raji extended sincere commendations to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for its professionalism, timely logistics, and the peaceful conduct of the election.
He also expressed deep appreciation to the electorate for their loyalty and support towards the APC candidates.
“This renewed mandate will be met with even greater dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy to every community within the Epe Federal Constituency,” he assured.
Outgoing two-term councillor for Ward E, Hon. Bakre Idris Olawale, also expressed gratitude to residents for their unity and engagement in the process.
He applauded Rep. Raji’s leadership and highlighted the APC-led administration’s impact in key areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
“When we wake up each day, we know APC delivers. Our progress is thanks to the collaborative leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and our Council Chairman, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele.”
Political stakeholder Alhaji Tunde Kareem echoed similar sentiments, describing the Lekki LCDA election as exemplary.
He praised the APC’s internal democratic processes and the consensus-driven approach led by Rep. Raji.
“In our ward, nine aspirants initially showed interest. But through inclusive consultations and the maturity of our leaders, a consensus was reached peacefully.
All other aspirants stepped down willingly. This is a shining example of inclusive and progressive politics,” he said.
