The Ogun State government has confirmed that the late Oba Sikuru Kayode Adetona, the revered Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Ode, will be laid to rest today, Tuesday, at 4:00 PM.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the burial will take place at his residence in Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, as disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
The government has called on residents of Ogun State to remember the family of the late monarch in their prayers during this difficult time. Oba Adetona, who passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91, was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning monarchs, ascending the throne in 1960. He was a widely respected leader, not only among the Yoruba people but also across Nigeria.
His death came just hours after the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, marking a somber day in the country’s history.
Meanwhile, in London, a high-level Nigerian government delegation has arrived to receive the body of former President Buhari. The delegation, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived on Monday morning, following President Bola Tinubu’s instructions. They were welcomed by the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum.
