EKO HOT BLOG reports that the plea was made during a series of rallies held across Abia State on Saturday to mark Obi’s 64th birthday. Tagged the “One Million Man-March for Obi,” the rally took place simultaneously in Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli.
Speaking to journalists at the rally in Umuahia, the state capital, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chibuzor Obiesili, appealed to Atiku to shelve his presidential ambition and back Obi for the sake of national progress. He acknowledged Atiku’s contributions to Nigeria’s democracy but stressed that it was time for him to make a final sacrifice.
“We thank those behind the coalition talks. But we appeal that the coalition should adopt Obi as its flagbearer because he has the national appeal to dislodge the APC in 2027,” Obiesili said.
According to him, Obi offers a “quick fix” to Nigeria’s multiple challenges and remains the best option for national transformation. He urged opposition figures and political groups forming alliances to prioritise Obi, stressing that his leadership is needed more than ever.

The Obidient Movement in Abia State said their call was in the interest of the nation, asserting that Obi’s record and mass appeal make him a unifying candidate capable of delivering real change.
