A man identified as Mr. Zape Upaa was reportedly assaulted by angry residents of Ukpiam community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State for allegedly attempting to downplay a deadly attack carried out by armed herdsmen, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to sources, Zape was confronted and beaten while trying to record videos that appeared to discredit reports of the overnight attack, which had left the community in distress.

Still grappling with the aftermath of the violence, the villagers reacted with anger and attacked him.
Photos circulating online show Zape with visible injuries, confirming the incident.
Eyewitnesses said the assault happened in broad daylight and drew the attention of other members of the community.

“He was trying to do a video to say nothing happened here. People got angry and attacked him,” one local said.
Ukpiam, like several other communities in Benue State, has endured repeated attacks by suspected armed herders, leading to growing calls for stronger security presence in the region.
Upaa was eventually rescued by concerned locals and taken to a hospital in Makurdi for treatment of the injuries he sustained during the assault.
