Chief Charles Orie, a prominent governorship aspirant in Imo State, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme, calling it a practical solution to rural poverty and neglect.”

In a statement from his media aide, Hon. Bethel Nwosu, Eko Hot Blog reports that, Orie spoke in Owerri, saying the program is a practical step to reduce rural poverty through targeted interventions in agriculture, education, and rural electrification. He added, ‘This initiative will ensure that development reaches the grassroots, where it is needed most.

Orie underscored the importance of this approach, saying it would foster more inclusive economic growth by empowering local farmers and small business owners. He also stressed the need for state and local governments to align their development plans with the federal government’s priorities to avoid wasting resources.

“For this program to succeed,” Orie stated, “there must be coordination, transparency, and local accountability. We must also encourage civil society to actively monitor its implementation.” He also pointed out the dual benefit of expanding school feeding programs under the RHWDP, which would address both educational access and child nutrition simultaneously.

He noted that, his support for the RHWDP is consistent with his own political vision for Imo State, which prioritizes improving infrastructure, education, and agricultural productivity. The program, he believes, offers a clear path to revitalizing neglected communities nationwide.
