A Sharia Court in Kano has sentenced a 35 year old man, Sabiu Abdullahi to 50 strokes of cane for stealing five roofing sheets.

The Prosecution Counsel, Zahradeen Abubakar told the court that the case was reported at the Mariri Police Station on the 21st of July by Mr. Anas Yakubu from Tambaruwa Quarters.
The prosecutor for the case, Abubakar said the defendant broke into the house of the plaintiff to steal while he was absent .
The judge Malam Umar Lawal ruled that the defendant receive 50 strokes as punishment for the crime.
The man was sentenced for penalizing the Islamic law.
