President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly denied recent online reports claiming that Mr. Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has resigned from his position. A reliable source from the Presidency dismissed the reports as completely false, describing them as “rubbish” and lacking any basis in fact.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the false claims, which circulated on various online platforms, suggested that Ojulari had been forced to resign under pressure from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, the Presidency source clarified that Ojulari remains fully in charge of the national oil company and is actively carrying out the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu.
Following his appointment by the president, Ojulari was given the top NNPCL role in April 2025 with a clear and ambitious agenda. His core mandate is to implement wide-ranging reforms designed to improve the company’s operational efficiency, restore confidence among investors, and transform NNPC Limited into a more commercially viable and profitable entity.
This appointment was part of a larger effort by the President to overhaul the oil and gas sector as part of his reform process.
President Tinubu had earlier dismissed the previous NNPCL board, which included the former Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, and the board chairman, Pius Akinyelure.
The Presidency source emphasized that Ojulari continues to enjoy the full backing of the administration as he works to implement this crucial reform agenda for the nation’s energy sector.
