EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement was made in a statement issued on Friday by the company’s Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, Femi Adeniran, who noted that the move is aimed at ensuring compliance with current industry standards.
He explained that the suspension aligns with broader efforts to meet regulatory and operational expectations governing telecom services in the country.
Despite the development, Airtel Nigeria assured customers that its core services would remain fully operational. Subscribers will continue to access airtime and data purchases through existing channels without disruption.
The company added that the temporary suspension will not affect network performance or overall service delivery across the country.
Speaking on the decision, the Director of Marketing, Ismail Adeshina, described the move as necessary in the current regulatory climate.
“This is a necessary and responsible step as we align our operations with evolving requirements. Airtel Nigeria remains committed to the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and consumer protection, while continuing to innovate responsibly within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” he said.
Airtel Nigeria also assured subscribers that updates regarding the status of the suspended services would be communicated in due course.

The development comes amid increasing regulatory scrutiny of digital lending and credit based services within Nigeria’s telecom industry, as authorities seek to strengthen consumer protection and ensure responsible service delivery.
