Basirat Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has spoken out for the first time on the aviation controversy involving her father, accusing top regulatory bodies of peddling false claims.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Damilola, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, posted her reaction on Instagram on Thursday, disputing the accounts given by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

“I don’t know why a reputable agency would lie that water is alcohol,” she wrote in a strongly worded message. “I don’t know when K1 became a magician who turns water into alcohol. With the same flask, all of a sudden, everyone is pretending as if they don’t know he carries his water in his flask everywhere.”

Her comments come in the wake of public uproar following FAAN’s allegation, through its spokesperson Obiageli Orah, that the 68-year-old musician violated aviation rules by allegedly bringing alcohol onboard a ValueJet Airlines flight (Flight VK 201) headed for Lagos.
According to FAAN, the incident happened during boarding and led to a standoff that disrupted flight operations, prompting intervention from regulatory authorities.
In a swift move, the NCAA announced a six-month blacklist against the singer, preventing him from boarding any commercial flight in the country during the period.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, also commented on the incident, describing it as “a temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides.” He warned that such altercations could have endangered lives and stressed the government’s commitment to safety.
“This kind of behaviour is unacceptable, especially onboard a flight. It could have resulted in a tragedy,” the Minister said, reaffirming the zero-tolerance policy for breaches of aviation regulations.
While K1 himself has yet to respond publicly, his daughter’s statement marks the first family reaction to what has become a major national conversation, touching on aviation safety, celebrity conduct, and political ties.
A close ally of President Bola Tinubu, K1 remains one of Nigeria’s most influential musicians, and the debate over his alleged conduct continues to divide public opinion.
