Musa Ibrahim Ashoms, the Plateau State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has encouraged young people to embrace both farming and artificial intelligence (AI) to build a secure future for themselves.
Eko Hot Blog reports that speaking at the International Youth Day celebration in Jos, he highlighted that youth-led farming cooperatives are already increasing food production and creating jobs across the state.

The Commissioner emphasized that the state government is committed to supporting these efforts through programs like the Plateau Youth Agricultural Empowerment Program (P-YAEP), which provides training in sustainable agriculture.

Similarly, Hitler Pwajok, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Development, noted that the current administration has fulfilled its promise to involve young people in governance, with 60% of key positions going to youths.
He also detailed the “Back-to-Farm” initiative, which aims to get up to 20,000 youths involved in farming and related businesses. The government’s goal is to cultivate thousands of hectares of land by 2027.
Ashoms concluded by stressing the importance of collaboration between the government, schools, and businesses to ensure these youth empowerment programs are successful.
