- Senate Begins Screening Of Taiwo Oyedele As Minister Of State For Finance
- President Tinubu nominated Oyedele to replace Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday began the screening of Taiwo Oyedele following his nomination as Minister of State for Finance.
The screening commenced during plenary after the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion to admit the nominee into the chamber.
Following the motion, senators approved Oyedele’s entry into the chamber to begin the confirmation process for the ministerial position.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Oyedele was then ushered into the chamber by Basheer Lado, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate Matters.
The nominee arrived in the Senate chamber at about 2.21pm in the company of several government officials.
Among those present with him were Ondo State Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, and former Minister of Defence, Tokunbo Kayode.
The screening marks the beginning of the Senate’s consideration of Oyedele’s nomination for the position of Minister of State for Finance.
President Bola Tinubu had nominated Oyedele to replace Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite in the role.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement issued last week.
According to the statement, Uzoka-Anite will now move to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.
Before his nomination, Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko area of Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, which carried out major reforms in Nigeria’s tax system.
Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant and public policy expert.
He studied at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance. He later attended Oxford Brookes University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting.
He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

Oyedele spent 22 years at PwC, joining the firm in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
He currently serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is also a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
