Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 500 women in Bauchi State with a grant of N250 million to enhance their social and economic well-being.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that at the inauguration ceremony, the First Lady explained that each beneficiary would receive N50,000 to establish or expand their businesses. She was represented by Aisha Mohammed, wife of the Bauchi State Governor.

According to her, the programme is part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Economic Empowerment Programme, which aims to support 18,500 women across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The initiative is implemented in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
Tinubu commended the foundation for donating N1 billion to the programme and expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Governor for his support.
She noted that beneficiaries would be closely monitored to ensure proper use of the funds.

Speaking on behalf of the state, Aisha Mohammed highlighted that the Bauchi government had also introduced an empowerment scheme for pastoral households, designed to improve their living standards.
She added that the programme would support 25 women’s groups across the state’s 20 local government areas. Each group will receive N300,000, amounting to N6.3 million, alongside 125 bags of rice distributed among them.
“This is not a loan but a seed grant to support women traders and small-scale entrepreneurs. When you empower a woman, you empower a household, a community, and a nation,” she said.
