Uwazuruike vows to join protest, insists on peaceful advocacy
The Imo State Police Command has summoned the leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Ralph Uwazuruike, to appear before its Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Owerri over alleged involvement in criminal activities.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a police letter dated October 16, 2025, Uwazuruike is accused of criminal invasion, forgery, and wilful damage. The letter, jointly signed by ASP John Ebute, ASP Eze Jet, and Inspector Alice Zakari, directed the MASSOB leader to report to the AKU headquarters by 10 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025.
The invitation comes the same day civil society organisations and pro-Biafra groups are expected to hold nationwide peaceful protests demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Reacting to the development, MASSOB alleged that the police summons may be a ploy to stop Uwazuruike from joining the planned demonstration. In a statement issued by the group’s Director of Information, Mazi Chris Mocha, MASSOB confirmed that Uwazuruike had been informed of the directive to appear before the AKU.
Uwazuruike, in a viral video responding to the summons, maintained his commitment to join the peaceful protest, describing it as a matter of “collective dignity and conscience.” He stated, “I will be part of any peaceful protest for Nnamdi Kanu’s release. This is not about Kanu alone; it is about our collective dignity as a people.”

Despite acknowledging the police invitation, Uwazuruike insisted that he would not be intimidated, stressing that his involvement in the protest is driven by principles of justice and peace. He reaffirmed his dedication to non-violent advocacy in the Biafra self-determination struggle, saying he remains “firm, calm, and unshaken.”
