The town of Ikogosi, famous for its warm springs, will host the 2nd Ikogosi 17.5km Road Race on November 8. The event is a key part of Governor Abiodun Oyebanji’s plan to transform Ekiti into a leading tourism destination in Nigeria.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji’s support for the Ikogosi Road Race, organized in partnership with the Ikogosi Marathon Initiative, is a key part of his effort to establish Ekiti as a global tourism destination. The event is expected to attract athletes, tourists, and investors from around the world, which will help boost local commerce, the hospitality industry, and small businesses.
In addition, more than 500 young people will be trained as volunteers, while artisans, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and cultural troupes will have a platform to showcase the state’s vibrant culture and creativity.
The Ikogosi road race route, which runs from the scenic terrains of Ilawe to the well-known Ikogosi Warm Spring, is designed to show off Ekiti’s natural beauty and its better infrastructure. The race is more than just a sporting event; it is a strategic way to present Ekiti as a prime location for international tourism, adventure sports, and investment.
Under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership, the state is actively working to redefine itself as a leading center for sports, business, culture, and tourism in Nigeria.
