EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting comes amid growing speculation that Mohammed and Makinde, among the few remaining governors in the Peoples Democratic Party, may be considering leaving the party following its prolonged leadership crisis.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not officially disclosed, political observers believe it may be connected to ongoing alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dickson, who is part of the meeting, recently defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress, further fueling discussions about possible realignments within the opposition bloc.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that Bala Mohammed has not defected to the All Progressives Congress due to the absence of any concrete agreement with the ruling party.
A source within the APC told Daily Trust that no formal consultations have taken place between the party and the Bauchi governor or his associates, adding that reports of his planned defection remain speculative.
Reacting to the development, the Bauchi State APC Chairman, Muhammad Hassan Tilde, said the state chapter had not received any official communication regarding a possible defection.
“You know such a defection always starts from the national level. You’d better contact our stakeholders at the national level to get the information.
“At the state level, we have not received any information to that effect. We are still waiting to hear from either our national headquarters or the governor himself,” he said.

Another source close to the development disclosed that the governor is currently more focused on protecting the interests of his loyal supporters than making immediate political moves.
The meeting is expected to generate further political reactions as attention shifts to possible alliances ahead of the next election cycle.
