Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the nomination of four individuals as commissioners, subject to confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued late Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

The nominees are Dr. Jerry Uwangue, Hon. (Barr.) Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien, Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie, and Akhigbe Osi John Sunday.
Profiles of the Nominees
Dr. Jerry Uwangue
Dr. Uwangue is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of J&G Engineering and Construction Services Ltd. With more than 20 years of experience in Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM) services in the oil, gas, and power industries, he has led key projects that enhanced business growth and operational efficiency. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (FCISM), recipient of the African Leadership Excellence Award, and an African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassador for achievements in business and local content development.
Hon. (Barr.) Kenneth Okoruwa Ihensekhien
A seasoned lawyer and politician, Ihensekhien has held multiple leadership roles in Edo State. His past positions include Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly (1999–2003), Commissioner for Youth and Sports (2003–2005), Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources (2005–2007), and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources (2007–2008). He also served as Special Adviser on Project Monitoring (2013–2014), Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor (2015), and Principal Private Secretary to the APC National Chairman (2018–2020). He holds degrees in Philosophy, Law, Political Science, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Benin.
Barr. Usenbo Paul Ehigie
With over two decades of legal and governance experience, Barr. Ehigie has worked across various sectors. He was General Manager for Regulatory Compliance at FGR Energy Services, where he developed compliance frameworks and risk management strategies. He also served as Senior Legislative Aide at the National Assembly, contributing to the drafting of more than 25 bills and motions. He is Principal Partner at Paul Usenbo & Co. and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).
Akhigbe Osi John Sunday
Akhigbe is a technocrat and advocate for community development, particularly in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and civic participation. He is well-regarded for his grassroots initiatives and commitment to strengthening community engagement and socio-economic development.
The Edo State government noted that the appointment of the nominees reflects the administration’s drive to bring experienced professionals and public servants into its cabinet to enhance governance and service delivery.
