The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has praised President Bola Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency in Rivers State, which officially ended at midnight yesterday.

President Tinubu first declared the emergency on March 18, 2025, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly.
The President then appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) as the Sole Administrator. The lifting of the emergency signals a return to constitutional governance and represents a significant victory for the people of Rivers State.
PANDEF also commended Governor Fubara for his “unwavering perseverance” and faith during the period of suspension. The forum extended similar praise to Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu and the state lawmakers.
Addressing the people of Rivers State, PANDEF declared that “light has returned” and a “glorious new dawn has come.” They urged political leaders and citizens alike to put the past behind them and focus on working together for the collective good.
The organization pledged to support the government in its pursuit of progress and development, expressing hope that the state would swiftly return to its developmental trajectory under Governor Fubara’s leadership.
