According to Eko Hot Blog, Wike made the statement on Channels Television’s Politics Today, noting that after six months of emergency rule, Rivers is now calm, with all major political actors ready to move forward.

Wike said he spoke with Fubara recently and emphasized that unless he had forgiven him, he would not be engaging with him at all. “Everything is over,” the minister said, adding that he does not play politics by saying one thing today and another tomorrow.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for lifting the state of emergency, saying the decision was pivotal in restoring constitutional order and paving the way for reconciliation.
Wike accused some unnamed individuals of attempting to twist legal provisions around local government elections to fuel tension, noting that peace must be defended from those who benefit from conflict rather than progress.
The minister urged all stakeholders in Rivers including community leaders, lawmakers, and civil society to embrace the restored peace.
He said that peace isn’t simply the absence of conflict, but requires working together for social, political, and economic stability.

Wike warned against “crisis builders,” people who thrive in chaos and create disruptions rather than solutions.
He said the people of Rivers want governance, service delivery, and unity, not endless disputes.
He also noted that other branches of government from the legislature to local government structures must now step up. With the emergency rule lifted, institutions are being restored, and normal political and administrative duties are resuming.
For many in Rivers, this reconciliation marks a turning point. The narrative has shifted from political crisis and power struggle to cooperation and rebuilding. What Wike frames as forgiveness signals a fresh start for the state’s governance and public trust.
