The family of a prominent businessman, Otunba Olanrewaju Adenuga, has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moshood Jimoh, over the alleged forceful takeover of their property in Ikeja by suspected hoodlums.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a petition filed through their lawyers, Brookgreen LP, the Adenugas accused nine suspects of invading their property at No. 113, Awolowo Way, earlier this year.

The suspects allegedly vandalised fittings worth more than ₦2 million, carted away construction materials valued at ₦8 million, and converted parts of the site into a den for criminal activities.
The family alleged that the invaders leased out sections of the property to roadside operators while turning the premises into a hideout for smoking Indian hemp, alcohol consumption, and other illicit gatherings.
Engineers deployed to begin development work on the site were said to have been seized, with one of the suspects allegedly demanding ransom before their release.

According to the complaint, the leader of the gang demanded ₦800,000 and annual “gifts” of goats before agreeing to vacate the land.
The suspects also allegedly boasted of belonging to a cult group and issued repeated death threats to Adenuga and his household.
In one incident described by the businessman as “chilling,” he claimed to have narrowly escaped a violent attack in the presence of police officers, who were reportedly overpowered by the gang during the confrontation.
“This is not just a case of trespass but a sustained campaign of intimidation, theft, and attempted murder that has left our client in constant fear for his life,” the petition read.
The family urged the Lagos State Police Command to order the immediate arrest and prosecution of the suspects, warning that their continued presence on the property threatens both their safety and public order in Ikeja.
They further noted that the case reflects a growing trend of violent property invasions across Lagos, often linked to gangs operating under cult protection.
