EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to Eko Hot Blog reports, in exclusive interviews, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) all emphasized the need for a credible, neutral, and principled leader to replace the current chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, whose tenure ends in November.
The ruling APC, through its Director of Publicity Bala Ibrahim, insists that while it aims to win every election, it also demands a level playing field for all political parties. He stated that the party wants an INEC leader who will “play by the book” and allow for free and fair elections.
The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, also stressed that the next INEC chairman must be a person of unquestionable integrity and independence.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to conduct a thorough review of all candidates to ensure the most competent individual gets the job.
On its part, the ADC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdulahi, expressed concern over what he called INEC’s long-standing credibility crisis.

He warned that if the commission fails to restore public trust and conduct credible elections under new leadership, it could pose a serious threat to the country’s democratic stability.
The Nigerian Constitution requires the INEC chairman to possess “unquestionable integrity” and to be at least 50 years old.
