Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has celebrated African heritage at the African Cultural Festival in Pennsylvania, United States, stressing the importance of youth and creativity in driving the continent’s future.

The highlight was the Rhythms of Africa concert, where Sanwo-Olu delivered a keynote address that focused on the rising strength of Africa’s creative economy.

In his remarks, the governor commended the continent’s vibrant youth, describing them as central to Africa’s global identity. He noted that Lagos remains a leading hub for creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange, which continue to push the boundaries of Africa’s relevance in the international space.
Sanwo-Olu also took part in the Celebration of Excellence Awards, an event designed to honor individuals and organizations that have contributed to Africa’s growth, cultural preservation, and global partnerships.
The awards, he said, serve as a reminder of the resilience and achievements of Africans at home and in the diaspora.
In a post shared on his official X account, the governor wrote: “ I attended the African Cultural Festival in Pennsylvania, a gathering that brought together communities from across the state and beyond to celebrate the richness of African heritage.
At the Rhythms of Africa concert, he delivered a keynote address on the strength of the creative economy and the dynamism of the youth, both of which continue to position Lagos at the heart of Africa’s future.
