Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has responded to comments made by Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, over the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, telling the singer to prepare to sign his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, as a dancer after the poll.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Davido, during a press conference on Wednesday, appealed to an unnamed politician from Imo State to allow a free and fair election in Osun, saying he had heard reports of plans to interfere in the August 15 governorship election.

Although the singer did not mention Uzodimma by name, he urged the politician to ensure peace and allow Osun residents to freely choose their preferred candidate.
Reacting in a statement issued on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, Uzodimma said Davido should direct his appeal to the people of Osun rather than to him.
The governor also predicted that Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, would be defeated, claiming many voters had lost confidence in his administration.
According to the statement, the governor said many Osun residents believe Adeleke has failed in his responsibilities and are prepared to vote for a new direction in the upcoming election.
Uzodimma added that instead of making emotional appeals, Davido should focus on preparing his uncle for life after office, insisting that the All Progressives Congress candidate would emerge victorious.
In a swipe at the singer and his uncle, the governor said Davido should begin making arrangements to officially sign Adeleke as a dancer in his music band because, in his view, the governor may soon be out of political office after the August 15 election.
The exchange comes just days before the Osun State governorship election, where Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term in office.
