President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a nationwide address today, October 1, as Nigeria marks its 65th Independence anniversary.
Eko Hot Blog reports that according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidential broadcast will be aired live at 7 a.m.

The statement, titled “2025 Independence Anniversary: President Tinubu Addresses The Nation,” urged all television, radio stations, and electronic media outlets to link up with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
Independence Day speeches traditionally serve as a platform for Nigerian leaders to reflect on the nation’s progress, highlight achievements, reassure citizens of unity, and set out future policy directions.
In his first Independence Day message in 2023, President Tinubu stressed his administration’s economic reforms, the removal of fuel subsidy, and fresh strategies to combat insecurity.

The 2024 broadcast called on Nigerians to remain patient, assuring that the sacrifices being made would bring long-term benefits.
This year’s speech is expected to focus on the government’s efforts in driving economic recovery, strengthening national security, and advancing infrastructure projects, while also commemorating Nigeria’s six-and-a-half decades of independence.
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, secured independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, and has since celebrated the occasion annually with official ceremonies, parades, and presidential addresses.
