President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned a strategic meeting of the Council of State and the Police Council to deliberate on pressing national security and policing matters.
The development was announced in a statement released on Monday by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the statement, signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the SGF’s office, Segun Imohiosen, the meeting is part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen internal security and enhance coordination among key institutions.
“The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, has extended an invitation to members of the Council of State and Police Council to a hybrid strategic meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025,” the statement read.
The Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, explained that the session will focus on matters of national importance, including challenges affecting law enforcement and the overall security architecture of the country.
According to the schedule, the Council of State meeting will commence at 1:00 p.m., followed by the Police Council session at 2:00 p.m., both at the Council Chambers, Aso Villa, Abuja.

The SGF’s office added that the President has requested members to participate either physically or virtually, emphasizing the importance of collective input in shaping Nigeria’s security policies.
The meeting, according to the statement, reflects President Tinubu’s renewed commitment to safeguarding the nation and promoting effective governance through dialogue and collaboration.
