The heightened military and police operations follow a resolution by the Senate, which summoned the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar; Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen Olufemi Oluyede; and Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to address the worsening insecurity in Kwara South Senatorial District.
According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaiye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, troops have begun combing forests and communities around Oke Ode and Babanla in Ifelodun Local Council.
“The operation is also extending to Edu and Patigi to comb through thick forests from which kidnappers launched attacks on different communities and abducted people for ransom,” the statement read.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who earlier met with President Tinubu over the security situation, commended the swift federal response and the military’s renewed efforts to restore peace.
He explained that the exercise, part of Operation Fasan Yanma (OPFY), aims to eliminate all forms of security threats in Kwara South and Kwara North.
