The Lagos State Government has honoured 750 public servants, including Permanent Secretaries, with Long Service Merit Awards in recognition of their dedication and meritorious service spanning 30 years and above.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the event, held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa-Ikeja, was organised to celebrate outstanding members of the state workforce who have demonstrated commitment, integrity, and excellence in public service.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Bode Agoro, said the initiative reflects the government’s appreciation for the resilience and loyalty of its workforce.
“This award is our way of saying thank you for your commitment to the vision of a greater Lagos. It is also meant to inspire others to deliver their best and uphold the values of diligence and professionalism,” Agoro stated.
He urged the awardees not to rest on their laurels but to continue serving as role models in their respective ministries and agencies. Agoro also reaffirmed the government’s resolve to provide a supportive and enabling environment that enhances productivity and prioritises staff welfare.
The Head of Service further encouraged officers to embrace personal development and ICT proficiency, aligning their skills with modern governance demands.
He commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for their unwavering support of the state’s workforce and for making the event a reality.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, congratulated the honourees and reiterated the government’s continued commitment to public service welfare and excellence.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs. Abosede George, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and pledged continued dedication to the state’s progress.
