The project, according to the President, represents a significant step toward unlocking billions of barrels of reserves, stimulating economic value, and aligning with his administration’s core goal of boosting crude production through secure, transparent, and efficient export systems.
Speaking through the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Tinubu praised GEIL’s vision and leadership, assuring the company and other compliant operators of the federal government’s continued support and collaboration.
He emphasized that the project signified “a new and positive chapter” for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and a model for indigenous participation and innovation.
In his remarks, Prof. Anthony Adegbulugbe, Chairman of GEIL, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his encouragement and policy support.

He revealed that the terminal was conceived, designed, and executed entirely by Nigerians and completed within two years.
According to him, the facility will serve as a gateway for over 40 stranded fields in the Niger Delta, with more than 3 billion barrels of reserves, which could add over 200,000 barrels per day to the nation’s crude production.
