- Wike: I’m Not Running for President, My Focus Is on Tinubu’s Agenda
- Olayinka noted that the Minister’s stance on the 2027 elections has been clear and public

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports claiming that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is urging him to run for president in 2027, describing them as false and mischievous.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the report was “another lie from idle minds who have nothing to contribute to the development of the country.”

According to the statement, Wike remains firmly committed to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that “as far as Wike is concerned, it is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu till 2031.”
Olayinka noted that the Minister’s stance on the 2027 elections has been clear and public, stressing that Wike does not operate in secrecy.
“Wike does not function in hiding. He does what he says, and says what he does. The Minister has made it clear where he stands as long as the 2027 presidential election is concerned , he is with President Tinubu,” the statement read.
Clarifying the report of a purported PDP meeting, Olayinka explained that the only gathering that took place on August 20, 2025, was that of PDP stakeholders from Southern Nigeria, which focused on internal party zoning matters.
He said the meeting had nothing to do with presidential ambitions, adding that the outcome was publicly communicated in a joint statement signed by several PDP leaders, including state chairmen, senators, and party executives from the South-East and South-South regions.

Olayinka accused the unnamed online platform of twisting facts and engaging in “blackmail journalism,” saying its intention was to stir unnecessary political controversy.
“We know their intention. But unfortunately for them, Wike’s character is well-known , he doesn’t do anything in hiding. He has said it clearly that from now till 2031, he stands with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Olayinka said.
He further noted that Wike’s focus remains on delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT, aimed at transforming the capital into a globally competitive city through infrastructural and urban renewal projects.
