EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision followed a meeting of the Cross River State Working Committee (SWC) held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. The suspension was confirmed in a statement released in Abuja on Monday, October 20, and signed by James Otudor, one of the party’s state publicity secretaries.
According to the statement, Dr Usani’s conduct was found to be inconsistent with the provisions of the ADC Constitution and its disciplinary code. “In accordance with the party’s constitution and disciplinary procedures, Dr Usani’s suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of a formal investigation by the relevant party organs,” the statement read.
The SWC revealed that multiple petitions had been lodged against the former minister, accusing him of insubordination, anti-party activities, and acts capable of undermining the ADC’s image and internal cohesion ahead of future elections. The party explained that the decision to suspend him was reached after “extensive deliberations and consultations” with zonal and national leadership.
The Cross River ADC also expressed dissatisfaction with the appointment of Ms Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming that the state leadership was not consulted before her selection. The committee alleged that Ms Wayas had failed to engage with the state chapter since her appointment and questioned her loyalty to the party.
“The SWC urged the National Leadership to review her appointment and replace her with a credible and media-savvy individual from Cross River State who has demonstrated commitment to the ideals of the ADC,” the statement added.
The SWC also cautioned individuals from the Coalition Movement who had shown interest in joining the ADC to complete their membership registration within seven days, ending October 25, 2025, or risk exclusion from party activities. It warned against dual membership, noting that some coalition members had accepted positions in their former political parties.
The ADC urged all members to remain calm and law-abiding while internal disciplinary processes take their full course.
