Speaking at the Foundation’s 2025/2026 Scholarship Award and Fundraising Ceremony in Lagos, the founder, Dame (Prof.) Ajesola Majekodunmi, emphasized that the organization remains committed to sponsoring bright but financially challenged girls across the country.

“Our goal is not just to fund education, but to inspire a generation of leaders who will contribute meaningfully to society,” she said, adding that empowering women through education uplifts entire communities.
Reiterating the Foundation’s philosophy, Dame Majekodunmi declared that “when you train a girl or woman, you empower mankind,” stressing that investing in female education yields benefits that extend to families, communities, and the nation at large.
She urged individuals and corporate bodies to partner with the Foundation in expanding its scholarship reach. She noted that education, particularly for girls and young women, remains one of the most powerful catalysts for societal progress.

The event also featured emotional testimonies from beneficiaries. One of them, Abdul-Kareem Mayowa, a second-year medical student at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Foundation for easing the financial burden of higher education.
She described the scholarship as “a voice that tells us we have potential and something meaningful to offer our country.”

She explained that the support enables students to focus on their studies without the pressure of working multiple jobs, saying, “It transforms our dreams into achievable goals and reminds us that our ambitions are valid.”
The ceremony ended with a fundraising session aimed at expanding the ASMAF Foundation’s scholarship programme to reach more deserving students across Nigeria.
