Following the accident, aggrieved students reportedly protested and set the commercial vehicle ablaze after the driver allegedly fled the scene.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Saturday, LAUTECH’s Registrar, Olayinka Balogun, said the management deeply regretted the incident and had approved a two-week suspension of academic activities at the Iseyin campus.

“This heartbreaking incident has cast a shadow over our university community, and we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased,” Balogun said.
He added that the decision to suspend academic activities was taken to allow students and staff time to mourn and recover from the emotional impact of the tragedy.
All students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources have been directed to proceed on a break, with academic activities expected to resume on Monday, November 24, 2025.
Balogun urged students to remain calm, support one another, and honour the memory of their late colleague.
