Olayinka said the introduction of the seven proposed bye-laws marked another milestone in the council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and make Ibeju-Lekki a more organized, livable, and development-focused community.
“These proposed bills represent a deliberate effort by this Legislative Council to refine and strengthen the threads of development in line with the T.H.E.S.E Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the S.H.I.E.L.D Agenda of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa’s administration,” he said.
“They address critical areas such as environmental sustainability, market regulation, youth development, education, and land use planning, all of which are designed to make life more meaningful, peaceful, and better for residents.”
He further explained that the proposed laws were tailored to meet present and future challenges, ensuring that the council operates with a legal framework that encourages orderliness, economic progress, and inclusive participation.
The public hearing, organized by the 10th Legislative Arm, was attended by several dignitaries, community stakeholders, political leaders, and residents.
It provided a platform for citizens to share their opinions, make observations, and contribute meaningfully to the shaping of laws that would impact their daily lives.
The seven bills presented for public deliberation include:

The Council’s Legal Officer also provided clarifications and legal insights where necessary.
In a press interview after the session, Hon. Olayinka emphasized that the passage of the bills would solidify the foundation of good governance in Ibeju-Lekki, ensuring continuity beyond the present administration.
“Once passed, these laws will provide legal backing for government activities and ensure the continuity of the good works being done in Ibeju-Lekki. With proper enforcement, residents will enjoy a more orderly and legally supported lifestyle,” he said.
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who was represented at the event by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, praised the Legislative Arm for its vision and diligence in strengthening governance through laws that directly benefit the people.

Hon. Olatunji noted that the administration of Hon. Olowa has prioritized transparency and inclusion in decision-making, stressing that the public hearing further demonstrated the government’s readiness to listen to the people before making key policy decisions.
He added that such synergy between the Executive and Legislative Arms reflects a matured democracy at the grassroots level, ensuring that the people remain at the heart of governance in Ibeju-Lekki.
Prominent stakeholders and residents present at the public hearing commended the lawmakers for initiating laws that would enhance discipline, improve public order, and promote community growth.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. (Miss) Eletu Zainab Ayobola, urged residents to comply with the new laws once they are enacted, noting that adherence is key to maintaining peace and development within the community.
“Laws are not meant to punish but to guide us toward better coexistence and orderliness. Everyone has a role to play in making Ibeju-Lekki a model community,” she said.
The public hearing, which ended with a round of applause, was widely described as a symbol of the council’s dedication to good governance, people inclusion, and sustainable community growth.
