The commissioned projects include the Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi Island Golden Court comprising two and three-bedroom flats as well as four-bedroom duplexes with BQs; the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Operational Base; and the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Shopping Mall on Adeniji Adele Street.

Others are the Babajide Olusola Aduragbemi Sanwo-Olu Administrative Building, Modupeola House (Executive Building), Hon. Muftau Kadiku Multipurpose Hall, Hon. R.F. Balogun Legislative Building, Ban Hakeem Oladapo Siwa Customary Court, Alhaja Ogunbambi Abisogun Mosque, and the F.O.K. Sanya Chapel.
Speaking at the commissioning, Sanwo-Olu commended Folawiyo for delivering the dividends of democracy to residents, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most effective and development-driven local government chairmen. He urged other councils to emulate the innovative and accountable governance model of Lagos Island East LCDA.
“We are crafting a Greater Lagos — a city that embraces digital inclusion, responds to social needs, and undergoes physical transformation, where every child matters and every citizen reaps the rewards of effective governance,” the Governor said.
Sanwo-Olu also launched a major innovation: the E-Birth Registration Initiative, a collaboration between the Lagos State Government, the National Population Commission (NPC), and UNICEF. The digital system ensures every child is assigned a National Identification Number (NIN) at birth, enhancing data accuracy and long-term planning.
“With the e-registration that has started now, children will have their NI Numbers from birth. Government can use it to plan, support development, and know where everyone resides,” the Governor noted.
Folawiyo explained that each newly commissioned building represents the legacy of prominent Lagosians whose service shaped the community. He pledged continued accountability, maintenance, and delivery of development projects.
Also speaking, UNICEF South-West Head of Office, Celine Lafoucriere, praised Lagos State and the NPC for adopting digital birth registration, calling it a milestone for child protection and identity rights. She reaffirmed UNICEF’s support for achieving universal registration across the state.

She also commended Lagos for achieving 94 percent birth registration coverage for children under five but noted the need to reach those in underserved communities.
The event was attended by members of the Lagos State Executive Council, Conference 57 chairmen, traditional rulers, political leaders, market executives, and representatives of development partners.
