The attack took place on Monday when armed bandits invaded Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, under Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, and abducted twenty five students. Officials later confirmed that one girl managed to escape and return home safely.

Matawalle explained that troops are now intensifying operations around the identified hideout and coordinating efforts to secure the girls’ safe release. He assured the public that the government is responding with urgency and is committed to bringing the students home.
According to reports, the incident has renewed concerns about the safety of schools across the region. Communities in northwest Nigeria have repeatedly suffered similar attacks in recent years, prompting parents and local leaders to demand stronger protection for schools, particularly in rural areas. Authorities have appealed for calm and urged residents to cooperate with security agencies as the rescue mission continues.
