EKO HOT BLOG reports that his re-election was announced on Sunday through a Facebook post by Peter Agba Kalu, who congratulated him and encouraged Nigerians around the world to celebrate the achievement. Kalu Agba currently represents his district as a City Council member and had previously served as Deputy Mayor before stepping down in line with a state law that limits the Mayor Pro Tem office to a strict two-year tenure.
The legislation bars immediate re-election, requiring at least one full cycle before a former officeholder can return. After his successor completed the required term, Kalu Agba again became eligible and secured the position through a fresh vote. His City Council mandate runs until 2027, after which he is expected to decide whether he will seek another term.
His return to the Deputy Mayor seat has attracted congratulatory messages from within and outside the Nigerian community, with many describing it as another proud moment for Nigerians holding leadership positions abroad.
In a separate development, former Mayor of Blanco City in Texas, Mike Arnold, has called on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar III, to present evidence countering what he described as widespread concerns about violent incidents across the northern region of Nigeria. Arnold, who founded Africa Arise International, made a series of social media posts alleging that the Sultan could not be completely detached from the security challenges affecting parts of the North.

The Sultanate Council dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that the monarch would not dignify them with a response. Arnold, however, insisted that incidents of violence, mineral looting and rising militia activity raised questions that deserved further scrutiny.
