Tension from Monday’s altercation between comedian Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, and social commentator VeryDarkMan has now led the comedian to speak out, offering clarity and an apology.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Mr Jollof, in a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, recounted the events on the United Nigeria Airlines flight, insisting he only reacted in self-defence and is not someone who resorts to violence.

He went on to apologise to passengers, airline staff, and aviation authorities for the disruption caused by the fracas, saying he deeply regretted any inconvenience the situation created.
In his words, “I want to sincerely apologise to the NCAA, United Nigeria Airlines, and every passenger on that flight. I only acted to defend myself, and you all saw what happened. I’m sorry if I delayed your plans. Please forgive me. I am not that kind of person, and it won’t happen again.”

He also addressed his family, adding, “To my wife, I know you’re proud of me. To my kids, Daddy is sorry this won’t repeat itself.”

Earlier reports indicated that both Mr Jollof and VeryDarkMan may face criminal charges over the confrontation, which occurred mid-boarding and caused a temporary delay before the flight’s departure.
