EKO HOT BLOG reports that the school principal, Musa Rabi Magaji, told the Associated Press that the girl managed to break free “within minutes” of the attack. Another student, who was not among those taken by the gunmen, also found her way back safely.
Magaji said, “One is part of the 25 abducted, and the other one returned earlier. They are safe and sound.” The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, left the Maga community shaken. Naija News had earlier reported that the bandits killed the school’s vice principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku. Several bodies were reportedly found within the school premises after the raid, heightening fears across the community.
Reacting to the incident, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed that the protection of Nigerian children remains “a solemn duty of the State.” Idris described the attack as a “reprehensible assault on innocent students” and condemned the killing of school officials performing legitimate duties. He said security and intelligence agencies have been directed to locate and rescue the remaining abducted students, stressing that the perpetrators “must face the full weight of the law.”
The minister added that the Federal Government is strengthening internal security architecture through enhanced military, policing, and intelligence operations. He also highlighted ongoing regional cooperation with ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force aimed at dismantling criminal and terrorist networks operating across West and Central Africa.

In a separate development, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, instructed troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify search-and-rescue efforts. During his visit to Kebbi on Monday, he directed soldiers to sustain day-and-night operations until all abducted schoolgirls are safely recovered.
