A tragic road accident on the Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday has claimed the life of a woman, while her 30-year-old daughter narrowly escaped death, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the crash happened around the Ilaje axis heading inward Iyana Oworo and involved a head-on collision between two Toyota Sienna vehicles.

Emergency responders moved quickly after receiving a distress call. LASTMA officials secured the area and controlled traffic to prevent further accidents, while officers from the Oworonsoki Police Division arrived to document the scene and begin investigations.
The victim, identified as a mother travelling in one of the vehicles, was confirmed dead at the scene. Her daughter, who was in the same vehicle, survived the impact.

Authorities revealed that one of the drivers fled immediately after the crash, while the other was arrested by LASTMA officials and handed over to the police for further questioning.
The body of the deceased has since been evacuated, and traffic flow on the bridge has returned to normal.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, urged motorists to drive responsibly, warning against speeding and reckless behaviour on the roads. He stressed the need for strict compliance with traffic rules to avoid preventable accidents.
