The Lagos State Government has begun the process of rebuilding police stations destroyed during the 2020 #EndSARS unrest, as part of efforts to reinforce security infrastructure across the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the restoration project is being coordinated through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), ahead of its 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security scheduled for December 11 at Eko Hotel and Suites.

The #EndSARS protests, which started as peaceful marches against alleged police brutality, spiralled into violence, leaving several police formations and public facilities vandalised.
According to the LSSTF, the remaining damaged stations have now been inspected, and reconstruction work is set to commence.

Speaking during a media briefing in Alausa, LSSTF Executive Secretary Ayodeji Ogunsan said the rebuilding effort is part of a broader strategy to improve policing capacity and strengthen safety across communities.
Ogunsan, who assumed office in October, pledged to expand transparency, broaden donor engagement and ensure contributions directly enhance security at the grassroots.
He noted that over the years, the Fund has supplied security agencies with patrol vehicles, communication equipment, protective gear, marine resources and specialised training—thanks to both corporate and individual donors.
Ogunsan revealed that a renewed retail donation initiative will soon be launched to enable Lagos residents to contribute to security regardless of income level, stressing that “₦500 or ₦50 million—what matters is participation.”

He said the Fund will introduce digital donation portals, awareness drives, youth-oriented programmes, volunteer schemes and avenues for in-kind donations, including surveillance gadgets, emergency response tools, tracking systems and data technology.
He also encouraged professionals in cybersecurity, engineering, criminology, psychology and data science to lend their expertise to strengthen the state’s security architecture.

Ogunsan expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the opportunity to serve, describing his role as a call to deepen innovation and collaboration in tackling emerging security threats.
He added that the upcoming town hall meeting will highlight the LSSTF’s stewardship, brief stakeholders on crime patterns, and unveil the state’s new security priorities before engaging participants in discussions on collective safety.
