In the second match, Ilara FC staged a brilliant comeback to defeat Omola FC 3–1, showcasing resilience and sharp attacking coordination.
Community members and football lovers described the opening day as a promising start, filled with talent, passion, and renewed unity among the youth.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Chairman, the Vice Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Adesanya Lateef Olugbenga, highlighted the reason behind institutionalizing the tournament as an annual event.
He explained that the initiative was introduced last year and embraced widely by the people of Epe, prompting the Chairman to continue it yearly.
According to him, “This program was invented last year, and due to how people of Epe accepted it, the Chairman deemed it fit to make it an annual event to keep the young ones committed to their goals.”
He added that the tournament is also designed to promote unity, discipline, and constructive engagement among the youth.

“This football competition is a plan to make the youths work hand in hand and be in unity,” he said.
Adesanya further relayed the Chairman’s message encouraging youths to approach the tournament with sportsmanship.
“The Chairman wants the youth to see this annual match as an avenue to strengthen and enhance their relationship with one another, not as a ‘do or die’ affair,” he stressed.
He assured players and fans of fairness throughout the tournament.
“From what I have been observing, I have noticed transparency and sincerity in this match, and I can assure that the coaches will be fair.
Football is an unpredictable sport, so I cannot be specific about who will emerge as winner,” he noted.
As the 2025 Chairman’s Cup continues, anticipation grows across the LCDA, with fans eager to see which team will rise to claim this year’s title.
