The strategic military relationship between Nigeria and India gained fresh momentum on Tuesday following a high-level visit by India’s Defence Adviser to Nigeria, Colonel Manoj Singh, to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Colonel Singh commended the Nigerian Army for its ongoing efforts to tackle security challenges across the country and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening defence cooperation. He said India was ready to expand military training opportunities for Nigerian officers and deepen technical exchanges between both countries.
“We are willing to broaden the scope
of our cooperation, including training, technical support and other areas of mutual interest,” Singh said.
Responding, the Chief of Army Staff described India’s defence partnership with Nigeria as invaluable, particularly in training, capacity building and military technology. He stressed the need to deepen collaboration in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing, logistics and professional development.
“The partnership between our two countries has contributed significantly to our military development, and we look forward to further enhancing collaboration,” General Shaibu stated.
The meeting ended with the presentation of souvenirs to Colonel Singh by the Chief of Army Staff, followed by the signing of the visitors book and a group photograph.
