Political realignments appear imminent in Plateau State following indications that Governor Caleb Muftwang may be considering a move away from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor’s Political Adviser, Istifanus Nwansat, confirmed ongoing discussions in Abuja, citing deepening internal crises within the PDP as a major factor influencing the decision.

According to him, shifting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) was viewed as the safest political option after careful assessment.
Nwansat explained that aligning with the ruling party at the centre would help position Plateau State more favourably within the current federal framework, especially in terms of policy direction and governance stability.

He added that while Muftwang remains a PDP member for now, the governor acknowledges President Bola Tinubu’s efforts at addressing national challenges and believes cooperation with the centre would better serve the interests of Plateau residents.
According to the adviser, any eventual decision would be guided by what the governor considers best for the state’s long-term political and developmental goals.
