EKO HOT BLOG reports that the ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 21, 2025, according to event fliers and confirmation from the Oyo palace.
Seyi Tinubu will be installed as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland, a title described as meaning the one dear to the hearts of all Yoruba people or a beloved child. Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari, who represents Zamfara West Senatorial District, will be installed as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland.
Confirming the development, the Alaafin’s media aide, Bode Durojaiye, told The PUNCH in a telephone interview on Wednesday that the ceremony would go ahead as planned.
“Yes, it is true… the event will hold as planned,” Durojaiye said.
He added that an official press statement on the installation would be released to journalists soon.
“Yes, it is true. The Alaafin of Oyo wants to install Seyi Tinubu as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland and Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland.
“The press statement on the said event would be made available today or anytime soon,” he said.
In the event flier, the monarch and his wife, Ayaba Abiwumi Owoade, invited members of the public to the installation ceremony and urged them to save the date.
The development comes weeks after the Ooni of Ife conferred the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, with the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua.
Mrs Tinubu arrived at the Ooni’s palace at about 1 pm amid fanfare and heightened security, where she was received by the monarch and his chiefs.
The installation, which took place at the Palace Square, coincided with activities marking Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s 10th coronation anniversary.

The ceremony attracted traditional rulers and dignitaries from across Yorubaland, including the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the Soun of Ogbomoso, as well as other cultural leaders and prominent personalities.
The title Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua is historically significant, having previously been held by the late Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, wife of the late statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
