EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the party, the primaries remain in line with its earlier timetable scheduled for May 28 and 29, 2026.
The NDC, however, explained that the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations and the accompanying public holidays created transportation and logistical difficulties, including the unavailability of flights across parts of the country.
The party stated that many aspirants who travelled to Abuja for the screening exercise, as well as members of the screening committee, were stranded in the Federal Capital Territory due to the disruptions.
As a result, the party said May 28 would now be dedicated to arrivals, documentation with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security agencies, as well as consultations and other preparatory activities ahead of the primaries.
“The teams will use May 28 to also hold meetings with stakeholders, party elders, as well as aspirants in their respective states,” the statement read.
The party also warned that no government agency, including the Police, INEC or the Department of State Services, DSS, should participate in any meetings or activities scheduled for May 28 outside the approved guidelines.
“No agencies of the state, viz: Police, INEC, DSS, etc., are to play any role in the programmes and meetings of May 28. Any activities carried out outside these guidelines would be unauthorized and deemed illegal,” the statement added.
The NDC further outlined the order of activities for the primaries scheduled for May 29.
According to the party, the process will include:
Presidential affirmation
National Assembly primaries and affirmation
State Assembly primaries and affirmation
Governorship primaries and affirmation
The party stated that all results from the various states would be collated and processed by designated teams before being forwarded to the National Headquarters.
It added that the National Working Committee would be solely responsible for announcing the final results.
The NDC also stressed that no state executive or team has the authority to declare results independently.

The party appealed to aspirants, delegates and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise, warning that it maintains zero tolerance for violence, disorderly conduct and hooliganism.
