A total of 3,391 newly trained personnel have been formally inducted into the Nigerian Army following a Passing Out Parade held on Saturday at the Depot Nigerian Army in Osogbo, Osun State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the ceremony marked a historic milestone as it was the first Passing Out Parade since the establishment of the Osogbo depot, signalling a new phase in the Army’s manpower development drive.

Addressing the recruits, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, urged them to maintain exemplary conduct, professionalism and unwavering loyalty to the nation as they begin their military careers.

He described the graduating soldiers as the pioneer intake of the Osogbo depot, charging them to wear the honour with pride and uphold the reputation of the Nigerian Army wherever they serve.
The Army Chief emphasised that Nigeria’s evolving security landscape requires courage, discipline and mental resilience, encouraging the soldiers to rely on their training and confront challenges with confidence rather than fear.
He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to troop welfare under the Soldier First initiative, stressing that personnel remain the backbone of the service and must consistently reflect its core values.
Shaibu also highlighted the responsibility placed on the recruits to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty, while commending the commandant, instructors and officers for producing disciplined and combat-ready soldiers.

He further disclosed that training activities would soon commence at the newly approved Depot of the Nigerian Army in Abakaliki.
In his remarks, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, praised the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices in tackling insecurity, including banditry and kidnapping, and urged the soldiers to remain dedicated defenders of peace and national stability.
The parade officially concluded with the formal induction of the recruits, marking the beginning of their service to the country.
