President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday distributed bags of rice, garri, noodles and other materials worth millions of naira to residents of Ebonyi State, describing the gesture as a reflection of the true spirit of Christmas one centred on compassion, sharing and putting smiles on the faces of the people.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the distribution was carried out on behalf of the President by the National Coordinator, South East Renewed Hope Agenda, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere, who said the initiative was aimed at supporting vulnerable families and easing economic pressures during the festive season.

Enwere explained that the event went beyond ceremony, describing it as a practical demonstration of solidarity and the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians at the grassroots.
“This event is not just a ceremonial gathering; it is a practical demonstration of compassion, solidarity, and our shared commitment to improving the welfare of our people, especially during this festive season,” he said.
He described Christmas as a season of love, sacrifice and sharing, noting that it serves as a reminder of the need to care for one another, particularly the less privileged and families facing economic hardship.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Tinubu is anchored on inclusiveness, people-centred governance and restoring confidence in public leadership. He added that the initiative aligns with the President’s commitment to cushioning the effects of economic challenges and ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind.
“Ebonyi State holds a special place in the South East and in our collective development aspirations. The industrious spirit, resilience and commitment of the Ebonyi people deserve continuous support,” Enwere said.

He described the distribution as a token of appreciation and reassurance that the welfare of the people remains central to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enwere also commended coordinators, volunteers, community leaders, traditional rulers, women and youth groups, as well as security agencies for their roles in ensuring the success of the exercise. He specifically acknowledged the Ebonyi State leadership of the South East Renewed Hope Agenda for its support and cooperation.
Addressing beneficiaries, he said the items were provided in goodwill and encouraged recipients to accept them in the spirit of the season while continuing to support government policies and programmes aimed at sustainable development, economic empowerment and social stability.
Items distributed included bags of rice, garri, noodles and other materials.
