The Kebbi State Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the explosion at the General Hospital in Bagudo, dismissing claims of a bomb blast or helicopter involvement.
Eko Hot Blog reports that investigations and expert assessments revealed that the incident was caused by a fire that overheated gas cylinders used for the hospital’s air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, leading to loud explosions.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said that Explosive Ordnance Disposal–Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) experts, along with the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, confirmed that no explosives were involved.
“The assessment further established that there was no aerial or helicopter activity connected to the explosion,” the statement added.

The police also confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries occurred, as verified by on-site experts.
SP Usman urged the public and media to disregard unverified reports linking the incident to a bomb or helicopter and to rely on official information. He reassured residents that the situation remains under control and reiterated the command’s commitment to public safety and transparent communication.
