The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the political error made in Rivers State will not be repeated, assuring that corrective steps will be taken ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Eko Hot Blog gathered during a thank-you visit to Khana people in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, Wike said leadership positions must reflect the collective will of the people rather than personal interests.

The minister used the occasion to reinforce loyalty to political leadership and future direction in the state.

According to him, lessons have been learnt from past decisions at the state level, stressing that the next election cycle would be approached with greater wisdom and unity.
He urged supporters to remain steadfast and aligned with leaders they trust, noting that unity was key to political progress.
Wike explained that his visit was not campaign-driven but meant to appreciate the people of Khana for standing by him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, especially during politically challenging moments.
He recalled that Khana stood firm during the 2023 elections when others were hesitant.

The former Rivers governor noted that the community’s support had begun to yield tangible benefits, including improved road infrastructure and the establishment of the University of Environment, crediting these developments to President Tinubu’s goodwill.
He added that Ogoniland had continued to attract federal appointments, with more opportunities expected in the future.
According to Wike, future voting decisions in Rivers would be guided less by party labels and more by collective interest and development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Earlier, the lawmaker representing Khana Federal Constituency, Dumnamene Dekor, praised both Wike and President Tinubu for elevating Ogoniland’s profile nationally. He assured the minister of unwavering loyalty from the people and pledged readiness to follow his political direction.

Also speaking, Mrs Barile Nwakoh, representing women in the area, thanked Wike for remembering Khana, attributing his growing support in Rivers to his sincerity and concern for the people. She stated that women in the area were prepared to mobilise support for President Tinubu should he seek re-election.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Khana Local Council, Dr Thomas Bariere, applauded Wike’s commitment to the area, noting that effective leadership had translated into visible improvements for residents. He assured the minister of sustained support from the council and its people.
