EKO HOT BLOG reports that Multiple sources told The Whistler that discussions between the concerned PDP figures and the ADC leadership have reached an advanced stage, with formal announcements expected in the coming days.
The planned defections are said to involve influential party stakeholders drawn from several states. Sources said the politicians have become disillusioned with the PDP, citing prolonged leadership disputes and unresolved internal crises.
A senior PDP figure familiar with the talks said many of those considering the move believe the ADC offers a more stable and ideologically consistent platform for pursuing their political ambitions.
“There is growing frustration. Many leaders feel the PDP has not shown the capacity to resolve its internal crises, and they are exploring alternatives,” the source said.
The development comes as a faction of the PDP leadership, led by former minister Kabiru Turaki, held a closed door meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at Jonathan’s residence in Maitama, Abuja. As of press time, details of the discussion had not been disclosed.
It also remains unclear whether the meeting was connected to the reported defection plans.
The Turaki led faction is aligned with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, while another faction chaired by Abdulrahman Mohammed is loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Meanwhile, the ADC has intensified efforts to present itself as a viable alternative to the major political parties. The party has reportedly held a series of private meetings with political heavyweights and dissatisfied members of other parties.
ADC officials said the party is focused on strengthening its national structure and expanding its reach ahead of future elections.
An ADC national officer confirmed ongoing discussions with politicians from the PDP and other parties but said only those who share the party’s values would be admitted.
“We are open to partnerships, but we are also committed to discipline and internal democracy,” the official said.
Reacting to the reports, the PDP leadership downplayed the likelihood of mass defections, insisting the party remains strong despite its internal challenges.

A party source expressed confidence that the PDP would overcome its leadership crisis, saying efforts were ongoing to address grievances and urging members to remain loyal.
