The Lagos State Baales Forum, the umbrella body representing traditional community heads across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), has announced plans to organise a special congregational prayer session and mobilisation rally in support of President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the event, scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, 2026, will also mark the official launch of the forum’s “Operation Show Your PVC” campaign aimed at encouraging voter participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the Convener of the Lagos State Baales Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, the State Chairman and Oba-elect of Ijeododo Kingdom, High Chief Abu Jelili Ododo, said the initiative is intended to seek divine guidance, peace and prosperity for the nation, while mobilising residents towards active civic participation.
According to him, the decision followed resolutions reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikeja, where traditional leaders agreed to support continuity in governance at both the federal and state levels.
Ododo said the prayer gathering would serve as a platform to back President Tinubu’s second-term bid and endorse Deputy Governor Hamzat as their preferred candidate for the Lagos governorship position in 2027.
He stressed that traditional institutions have a responsibility to preserve peace within their communities and promote leadership they believe can sustain development.

The forum noted that President Tinubu, during his time as governor of Lagos State, introduced welfare packages for community leaders, including salary structures and utility vehicles to aid grassroots administration.
The traditional leaders also expressed optimism that ongoing economic reforms by the Federal Government would reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.
They described Hamzat’s administrative experience as an important factor in sustaining and expanding the developmental agenda of Lagos State.
According to the forum, the interdenominational prayer programme will focus on national security, economic prosperity and the well-being of political leaders.
It added that traditional institutions across the 57 councils in Lagos have begun sensitisation efforts to encourage residents to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next election cycle.
The Baales Forum said the rally is expected to demonstrate solidarity among traditional institutions and showcase grassroots support for their preferred political direction.
